The Catholic First Communion and Catholic Confirmation Catechism Copybook samples offered here are to help you "see inside" as you would if you had the book in your hand. They offer no fluff, just plain common sense writing worksheets that use the text of the Baltimore Catechism as do the audio book downloads. You are free to teach any handwriting style. We prefer Spalding or D'nelian for their methods because they lead so easily to cursive writing, yet our fonts lend easily to nearly any "style". This way the child doesn't feel as if he is learning a whole new "language". They also lend themselves well to students who are beginners who are using the dictation method for manuscript or cursive writing!

Any text used at St. Anne's Audio Catechism will only use text that concurs with the Baltimore Catechism and the Douay-Rheims Bible. No need to "search" in matters of the basic Catholic beliefs!

These questions and answers are clearly taught in both the Audio Catechism CDs and the Catechism Copybooks. (See the Catechism Copybook samples above.)

The numeration of the text files and copybooks are the same as the numeration on the audio CD tracks!

Writing In A Copy Book

St. John Baptiste de la Salle is one of my heroes! He had used the writing method in teaching his students and was persecuted for it. The government of the day would physically break up the classes and destroy the desks and slates. The book called Master of Mischief Makers tells an excellent story of his Brothers of the Christian Schools (not the same as the Christian Brothers). His heroic defense of teaching writing to the children is the encouragement we had needed to add these Catechism Copybooks to our apostolate.

The copybook method is ages old. Students of old frequently only had slates to work from, yet they learned their school work well. A good basic education can often require very few materials! When composition notebooks became more commonly available, the copy method was still a very successful method in education and much easier to use. Composition notebooks are so useful that they are still commonly available and very much in use. Our Catechism Copybook samples give you a good idea of what St. Anne's Helper Catechism Copybooks offer.

Teaching children to use a copy book teaches more than penmanship, basic grammar and punctuation. It can teach them a certain and legitimate pride in making their own beautiful books of beautiful pages.

It is so much easier to learn beautiful manuscript or cursive writing when a beautiful copy is in sight. We have seen children delight in the pretty presentation and in the ease of their assignment. It is a joy for us to see this delight.
