Catholic Catechism Ideas!

Catholic and enjoying it! Catholic catechism ideas abound in stories of the saints lives and other Catholic books. When you add good stories to the catechism questions that apply to the topic, catechism class comes alive!

St. Anne's Helper offers help teaching the basic Catholic beliefs about the Catholic Ten Commandments, Catholic sacraments, and the Catholic prayers.

It is easier for children or adults to learn these Catholic truths with Catechism Audio (CDs or Downloads) and Catechism Copybooks/Worksheets! The review alone takes pressure away from the memorizing effort in catechism class.

Audio Catechism CD Audio Clips! St. Anne's Audio Catechism CDs are " "which means that the audio and the text are reprintable from the same CD! They are easy for a child to use since each question on the text of the CD matches the track number of the same Audio CD. This feature alone makes this one of the best Catholic catechism ideas we've seen for any catechism class!

St. Anne's Catechism Copybooks are reprintable! The whole book may be printed for as many students as needed! Also, no need to buy a new copybook for successive students.

Spiral bind your own Catechism Copybook, use a binder or folder! You may print the whole book on three holed paper for use in a binder so that you can replace pages, or you can email them to an office supply store to use spiral binding, our favorite!

You can trust the material with these Catholic catechism ideas. St. Anne's Helper uses the Baltimore Catechism so that you can have confidence that the answers will always be true!

St. Anne's Helper has taken great care to use the best Catholic answers to the Baltimore Catechism for First Communion and Catholic Confirmation preparation.

Think about it. The basic Catholic beliefs about the Catholic Eucharist and Confirmation NEVER change! You can have continuing confidence that you are teaching your students the Roman Catholic beliefs as the years progress.

Trust The Boxes!

The St. Anne's Audio Catechism CDs are packaged in white flexible DVD boxes for long lasting use!

"Which one, Mom?"

"The white one, dear."

These boxes will withstand many openings, many drops and falls, and even some PBJ!

Another choice available is to order online and download your Catholic audio books or Catholic ebooks immediately!

Dictation Using A Whiteboard!

An 8' x 4' white board is one of the great Catholic catechism ideas we have found to make the teaching easier and more explicit. They can be less than $20 if you get melamine coated masonite from the home improvement stores! Frame yours, if you like, with inexpensive trim! This is great for parish classrooms or for Catholic home school.

We use a whiteboard to model the words the children may have trouble spelling. For very young students this is practically every word so it is nice to also have the text already printed on the copywork pages to give a better reference as to where to write and what to write.

We used a yardstick and a blue "Super Sharpie twintip" to mark the baselines on our whiteboard and a red one for the left margin. We use the center five feet and keep the left free for prefixes that we learn as we go and the right free for suffixes. We learned that the Super Sharpie line would disappear as we used Expo dry erase pens, yet this stopped after about three months. So, we learned to freshen our lines in June so they lasted longer after a September start. Having the lines on the board was such a benefit that it was worth the extra effort.

This way the teacher can teach with dictation from the board with some copy help for younger students. With the dictation approach the teacher does not write the word first unless the student has trouble with a new word. The teacher reminds the student of a particular phonics rule or then models how a big word is spelled. This takes longer, but rewards the student with life-long spelling skills.

Catholic Books Tell The Story!

Many Catholic books have great Catholic catechism ideas. Good books offer the best Catholic catechism ideas in the pursuit of a joyful and truthful catechism course. They fill in the story for all of us, but most especially with a Catholic catechism for children. We have found several good Catholic books that are excellent for First Communion and Confirmation preparation for classroom or Catholic home school use.

Our favorites are the ones that tell the Bible story and the stories of Catholic saints. Older students appreciate a good Catholic history book, too, like El Cid or Saint Fernando III.

First Communion!

St. Anne's First Communion Catholic catechism for children teaches the usual answers required from the Baltimore Catechism for the Catholic sacraments, especially Catholic Baptism, Catholic Eucharist, and Catholic Penance (Rite of Reconciliation).

Both the Audio Catechism and the Catechism Copybooks (free pdf download samples) answer "Who made you?" so that the student has the life-long confidence that God made him the way He loves him! He also learns that "God made all things." These CDs ask "What is Baptism?" so that the student will know what Baptism does for him and any other baptized soul. These particular questions and answers are definitive and help the student make real distinctions! They can be ready for any catechism quiz!

Catholic Confirmation!

St. Anne's Confirmation Catechism also has both the Audio Catechism and the Catechism Copybooks. This time, there is a choice of voices for the audio (Anthony's or Mary's) and a choice for the Copybooks (Manuscript or Cursive).

Both the Audio Catechism and Catechism Copybooks ask the general Baltimore Catechism questions required on most catechism quizes for Catholic Confirmation. The question "What is Confimation?" is answered with a definitive answer, not a subjective answer, so that the student may have a life-long Faith in the grace he receives! This way the student knows what Confirmation does for others since he can think from the definition to the general application to both himself and others. Again, the student is armed with definitions and Catholic principles so he can make real distinctions! What a grace in this confused age.
