Christmas Traditions a Candle Light Service and Tea

by Connie
(Cliffside Park, New Jersey)

Our family Christmas traditions include raising our voices in song and praise during a Candle Light Service. After the service, family and friends gathered at my mother's house for fellowship and a feast of food.

My mother and grandmother introduced me to tea as a young girl. At the Christmas celebration, as with most of our special occasions, some of the tea served included blends of herbs Grandmother, and in later years mother, grew in her garden. Greeting friends and family was part of the Christmas tradition there.

Ultimately I became the one growing herbs or adding spices to a loose leaf tea I'd purchased for the holiday. These are traditions I miss because I have moved out of state. Now my sister carries on the family traditions.

Make memories with your family, they will always be with you.

Happy holidays from your cup of tea

Candle Light Service
by: Mary

Thank you for sharing these beautiful Christmas traditions! In the last 20 years I have met many friends who would meet after Midnight Mass for a full breakfast! The idea is that they had stayed up so long, and the fast before Mass was done, that it would be great to eat early and sleep in a bit on Christmas morning. They would usually get home around 2 am. Friends and family were still up and going, too, so it made a natural time to rejoice together. Great idea for venerating Our Lord's birth on His feast day!
