Italian Nativity Scenes

by Andrew
(Italy)

Soave, which is an absolutely magical little town, very near Verona, has the best nativity scenes you will ever see. Verona too has an incredible Nativity display featuring various displays from countries around the world.

Christmas in Italy is wonderful, far more traditional and less commercial than most of the western world.

Christmas Traditions In Italy
by: Mary

We have distant relatives who used to make it one of their Christmas traditons to see as many Italian Nativity Scenes in Italy as they could before they went to Midnight Mass in the Vatican. They did this during the years that they were stationed in Europe on their military tour. Wasn't it near Rome that St. Francis of Assissi made the first Nativity scene? I love the detail in the Italian nativity scene that you show. Christmas in Italy sounds warm and inviting, even if the temperatures are not!
