Treasures in Heaven

by Jessica
(Indiana)

For very young children, I like what we did last year:

We used rocks to represent sacrifices made each day during Lent and have those plain, ugly rocks "turn into" beautiful polished colored stones Easter morning - all of our sacrifices build up treasures in heaven.

We pile them on our prayer table each day throughout Lent and watch those ugly rocks build up! It was so wonderful to see my son's face light up when he saw all the treasure he had in heaven. ;)

Lent For Kids
by: Mary

Thank you Jessica for this darling idea for especially families with little ones! We do something similar with straw in a crib for Jesus at Christmas and I know the joy of which you speak!

Please pray for us!

Also, if you would like to add your favorite traditions on our other pages you can go to our Catholic Forum. This will help others to learn of these great ways to teach what Lent is to little ones.
